Learn CSS the right way from the very beginning

Workshop Details

Of the three major technologies powering the front end of websites, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are the most overlooked and misunderstood. Critical to colors, fonts, layout, and more, CSS seems to be the technology that developers love to hate.

But it doesn't have to be this way! Learn CSS the right way from the very beginning, step by step, with everything explained along the way.

In this course, Jen Kramer will walk you through building your first web page by breaking it into small sections. Within each section of the site, she'll talk you through styling text, navbars, headers, and footers, including adding images, social media icons, and more.

By the end of this course, you will have created a two-page website with a clean layout, and you will have learned the basics of styling text, navigation, images, and sections along the way.

Is This Workshop for Me?

This course is oriented towards beginning beginners, who have little to no background in HTML or CSS. The course may move a little slowly for experienced developers, but the information presented will be relevant and applicable to modern day web development work.

More advanced developers may enjoy the problem solving aspects of this course. First, we write semantic markup. Then we worry about styling that markup, adding classes and extra HTML elements only as needed to execute the design. The result is clean, accessible markup that isn't overengineered.

If you are exploring web development as a career, or if you feel like you didn't get much out of HTML and CSS at your coding bootcamp, this is a great place to cement and expand HTML and CSS skills.

Any Prerequisites?

  • Complete the HTML and CSS portions of the [Frontend Masters Bootcamp](
  • Understand how files and folders work.
  • Patience, a willingness to ask questions, and an open mind to working with CSS!
