Key Takeaways
By participating along with us in the workshop, you'll learn:
- Build a working mental model of harness vs. model — so when something goes wrong, you know which layer to fix
- Use CLAUDE.md to visibly changes Claude’s behavior
- Code a custom MCP server from scratch and watch Claude use it
- Use skills that encode your workflows so they run without re-prompting every session
- Learn the signals that tell you a setup is working — and what to change when it isn’t
Is This Workshop for Me?
Developers who use Claude Code regularly, and developers who want to adopt AI tools in their workflow.
Workshop Details
Claude Code works best when it’s configured for your codebase. This workshop starts with the one mental model that makes everything else click — what the harness does versus what the model does — then spends the day in a single demo project, adding configuration one layer at a time and watching each one change how Claude behaves. You’ll write a CLAUDE.md, set up plan mode and permissions, build a skill, and write a custom MCP server from scratch. We close with advanced patterns for real codebases: hooks, subagents, worktrees, and how to tell when your setup is actually working.
Any Prerequisites?
- Comfortable in a terminal and with git
- Claude Code CLI or Claude Code Desktop installed
- Node.js or Python set up locally
