I think a ton of coding usage of AI is in VS Code which leans Microsoft Copilot which <a href=\"https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\/updates\/v1_92#_github-copilot\">uses GPT-4o<\/a> by default although <a href=\"https:\/\/share.cleanshot.com\/LhVLFDr4\">you can change it in the UI<\/a>, so it might be worth giving others a shot. I like how using <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.googleblog.com\/en\/gemini-is-now-accessible-from-the-openai-library\/\">different models is pretty developer friendly<\/a> these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen Gemini do pretty decently particularly when you help it along with a custom &#8220;Gem&#8221; where you can explain in more detail exactly <a href=\"https:\/\/share.cleanshot.com\/jv5tgp45\">who you are and what you&#8217;re looking for<\/a>. I know ChatGPT also has <a href=\"https:\/\/help.openai.com\/en\/articles\/8096356-custom-instructions-for-chatgpt\">custom instructions<\/a> which will likely improve things there too, or at least <a href=\"https:\/\/front-end.social\/@chriscoyier\/113391098372795635\">good for a prank<\/a>. (Another good front-end-y <a href=\"https:\/\/frontendatscale.com\/issues\/18\/\">custom prompt here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve seen AI do some pretty horrible summarizations of content lately, particularly Apple Intelligence trying to summarize a handful of texts on my phone, but <em>generally<\/em> that&#8217;s a thing AI does pretty well. Since we all should know <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/karenmcgrane\/status\/1288301727997931520?lang=en\">truncation is not a content strategy<\/a>, using AI to do it <a href=\"https:\/\/thecleverest.com\/using-chatgpt-for-smart-truncation-in-responsive-web-design\/\">as part of responsive design<\/a> isn&#8217;t the worst idea, so long as you&#8217;re checking it closely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kevin Powell pitted several AI models against each other in a video focused on CSS questions and found Claude to be the best.
