You might remember &#8220;CSS3&#8221; and how hot of a buzzword that is. JavaScript still has successful &#8220;ES202X&#8221; naming that groups features into useful buckets. But CSS hasn&#8217;t benefited from named groups since CSS3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve <a href=\"https:\/\/css-tricks.com\/css4\/\">written<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>CSS3, and perhaps to a larger degree, \u201cHTML5\u201d, became (almost) household names.&nbsp;<strong>It was so successful, it\u2019s leaving us wanting to pull that lever again.<\/strong>&nbsp;It was successful on a ton of levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It pushed browser technology forward, particularly on technologies that had been stale for too long.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It got site owners to think, \u201c<em>hey maybe it\u2019s a good time to update our website.<\/em>\u201c<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It got educators to think, \u201c<em>hey maybe it\u2019s a good time to update our curriculums.<\/em>\u201c<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Then it felt like a pipedream. Now it&#8217;s real! You can <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/CSS-Next\/css-next\/discussions\/92\">see how the official community group is grouping CSS features and comment on the RFC<\/a> (Request for Comments).
